What are the benefits to these Services:
Parenting Assessment (Formerly Custody / Access Assessment):
- With or without court orders;
- Faster and more efficient than going through the application and intake system for subsidized
government services - Parents choose their assessor
- Parents may receive reassurance that all of their concerns have been thoroughly assessed/addressed
- Assesses complex and high conflict cases with more serious allegations and concerns (e.g.,
intimate partner violence, child resist-refuse dynamics, breakdown in parent-child relationships,
mental health, addictions, criminality, grandparents’ involvement, blended family and cultural diversity needs) - Process can be used for all children (pre-verbal to teenage, special needs)
- Parents receive a detailed, recommended, culturally equitable parenting plan, outlined decision making authority, breakdown of parental responsibilities, and other clinical recommendations,
all in a Summary Report - We provide Full Report for additional cost as requested by the Judge, either parent or their
respective Counsels
Focused Assessment Report:
- In some cases where there is one particular issue of contention, the parents may choose to opt
for a focused assessment. This may include, but not limited to, choice of school, choice of
medical or mental health evaluation/treatment, selection of sports/activities, grandparents’
involvement, cultural belief/disparity, etc - In such cases, the process will be adapted to the needs of the family but typically include parent
interviews, two children’s interviews and obtaining limited collateral information
Update Report:
- In some cases where there is an existing Assessment Report completed by us or another
assessor from before, and there has been an update on the case circumstances, ie. children are older; Judges may then request for an Update Report or either parent may choose to get one from the original assessor or us for a fresh new perspective
Voice of the Child Report (VOC):
- No court order needed
- Faster than a full assessment
- Less intrusive than a full assessment
- Does not require observations or professional/personal collateral information
- Less expensive than a full assessment
- Parents have control over choosing the assessor to meet with their children
- May be completed prior to physical parent separation to help devise a child-focused parenting
plan prior to moving into two separate homes - May be completed at any point following the physical parent separation to facilitate the
development of a child-focused parenting plan - A VOC is very helpful as it can be added to another Lawyer-Mediator’s mediation process to help identify and assess the views and preferences of the child
- Helps negotiations between lawyers to progress outside of court
- Captures child’s voice, views and wishes focusing on child’s perspective
- As child grows older and matures while the family dynamics change, parents can obtain an update regarding the child’s views and preferences with a fresh new VOC
- In cases, where a child is resisting or refusing contact with a parent, the VOC is significantly important to be completed prior to initiating Reintegration Therapy (Formerly Reunification Therapy)
- In evolving family situations, check-in interviews may be scheduled following the VOC to
ascertain how the child is feeling about an interim schedule being implemented
Court Ordered Anger Management Program:
- Especially designed program to meet court-ordered anger management counselling needs for individuals facing criminal charges and convictions related to Intimate Partner Violence, Addictions, Mental Health, Other Community Based Violent Acts. This service aims to rehabilitate the client and reduce the risk of reoffending
- This program helps clients to cope with past trauma, abuse or mental health concerns and assists in recommending service plans to help secure employment, gain remedial services and fulfill court mandated programs
- A report and/or Certificate of Completion, which can be filed with the preceding court, is
typically provided upon successful completion of counselling sessions or full program - Judges and Lawyers often request this service to support criminal matters pending before the
court system prior to Hearings and Trials - Service is available in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and Bengali

We aim to complete the process within 6-8 weeks - Court Ordered Anger Management Program:
We tend to offer 8-10 sessions on a once or twice a week basis depending on court urgency and other clinical factors - Parenting Consultation: At the on-set, we discuss and agree on a specified number of sessions for this
